1. Request current status of possible
communist influence in the Austrian Ministry of
Power Industry and Electrification. We understand
some known top Communists officials have been
eliminated since 1948. Specific information is
requested as follows:
a. Any current evidence that Communists
control the flow of electric power to the
Soviet Zone in Austria to the detriment of
Western Austria, e.g. during current reported
hydroelectric power shortage.
b. If so, names of such individuals and
position held in the Ministry.
c. If any Communist influence still
exists in subject Ministry, is it known to
Austrian cabinet officials? If so, what are
their plans for eliminating this influence and
has Army Intelligence taken any steps to
eliminate it?
2. If this material can be furnished by
consultation, f this office can be
called upon to arrange a conference*
