CHECKOUT PROCEDURE FOR CHECKOUT CONSOLE
"(3-BAY UNIT)
UNIT NO.
1.0 UNIT TESTS
1.1 Connect console to 126?208 volt 60 cps 3 phase
1.2 Turn on circuit breaker at the rear of Power
Distribution unit box.
side of chamber feed-thru connectors, connect
cables W1, W2, W3, and W6 to Console Tester
to chamber feed-thru connectors. From other
1.3 Connect cables Wl, W2, W3, and W6 from top of con-
sole to CONSOLE TESTER (refer to Schematic Dwg.
52776). Cable W3 has three branches that connect
to P103, P104, and P105 on CONSOLE TESTER.
NOTE: For Boston console only, connect cables
Wll'-, W12, W13, W16 and W19 from'top of consoles
connectors.

1.4 Leave rear doors of Console open and manually set
interlocks. Check
that POWER ON indicator lights.
1.5 Depress ON switch on AC Control Panel and observe
1.6. Check that blower units are operative.
1.7 Check ELAPSED TIME meter on AC Control Panel.
1.8 Turn power on to all units in 3rd bay.
2.0 CONSOLE SUPPLIES
2.1 -Turn on all supplies and set voltages as follows:
+28.3V regulated, -28.3V regulated, and +24Vunreg-
ulated.

follows:
+28.3V to 29V high, 20V low, 10.5 amps
-28.3V to 29V high, 20V low, 10.5 amps

2.3 Press VEHICLE POWER switch on INSTRUMENT CONTROL panel.
Note that POWER ON indicator lights. Check that lights
on METER-RELAY panel do not light, as this indicates a malfunction.

switch S815, located on INSTRUMENT CONTROL chassis.
Counter'should return to zero.
5.0 SCAN POTENTIOMETER
5,1 Set SCAN CONTROL to 500. Check
5.2 Connect a Simpson No. 260 or equivalent voltmeter to
SCAN CONTROL jacks, located on rear of CONSOLE TESTER,
to HI and LO. Set meter..to.,lO-volt range. Meter
should read 0 volts.
5.3 Rotate fully CW.. Meter should read approximately 8.5 VDC
+ 1V. Return SCAN CONTROL to 500;,,,,
5.4 Reverse meter polarity and rotate SCAN POSITION poten-
tiometer fully'CCW. Meter should read approximately
-8.5 VDC + 1V. Return SCAN CONTROL to 500.

8.0 CONSOLE TESTER - USED FOR LOADING POWER SUPPLIES
8.1 Seven sets of jacks, mounted on the rear of the CONSOLE
TESTER are used for applying loads to the four different
supplies.
a. Four sets of jacks for the 24 volt unregulated
b. One set of jacks for the +28 volt regulated
c. One set of jacks for the =28 volt -regulated
d. One set of jacks for the 115 volt'400 cycle.
NOTE: The following tests may be run in parallel.
8.2 24 volt 50?ampere unregulated supply
a. Turn 50 amp supply off. Connect a 2000 watt jagabi
rheostat to the 4 sets of jacks for the 24 volt
unregulated supply, making sure that the resistance
maximum.
b. See that meter-relay cut-out is adjusted for
50 amperes +.
c. Place power supply switch to ON and adjust
voltage control to 24 volts as observed on
the voltmeter at load.
d. Using the 2000 watt jagabi rheostat load the
supply to 45 amperes and note voltage change
at load.

Drop the load to approximately 40 amperes and
run for 10 minutes. Note voltage at load.
8.3 +28 volt regulated 10 ampere upply
a. Turn off +28.3 volt power supfy. Connect a
1000 watt jagabi rheostat to the set of jacks
for the +28.3 volt regulated supply, with its
resistance set at maximum.

b. Set meter-relay cut-out for +10.5 amperes.
c. Place power switch on the +28.3 volt supply to
ON and adjust the voltage to 28.3 volts as
observed on the voltreter at the load.
d. Using the 1000-watt jagabi rheostat-level, load the supply
to 10 amperes.. List any voltage change at load.
e. Drop the load to approximately 8 amperes and run for
10 minutes. List any voltage change.
_8.4 28.3`volt regulated 10-ampere supply. .
Turn off -28.3 volt power supply. Connect 1000-watt
. regulated supply.
?jagabi rheostat to the set of jacks for the -28 volt
b..~Set meter-relay cut-out for -10.5 amperes. Check
c. Place power switch on the'-28.3 volt regulated
supply to ON.and'adjust to -28.3 volts as observed
on the voltmeter at the load.

d. Using 1000-watt jagabi rheostat', load the supply to
10 amperes and list any voltage change.
e. Drop the load to approximately 8 amperes and run for
10 minutes. List any voltage change at load.

a. Turn 400 cycle power supply off. Connect a load con-
sisting of one 40-watt light bulb to the 115V 400-
cycle jacks.

9.0 DEGRADATION CONTROL
9.1 Apply an approximate 5 amp load on the +28.3volt supply
output.
9.2. On Degradation Control, degrade +28V to 1.0V and check
meter reading for 1.OV + 10-percent. In similar manner
degrade and check for the following levels: 0.5V, 0.25V,_
0.125V, and 0.0625V. All readings to fall within + 10
percent full scale or + 0.1V. Check
.9.3. Repeat 9.1? and 9.2 for the minus 28.3 supply.
10.0 METER-RELAY CONTROL
10.3 Turn Vehicle power on.
10.1 Depress Vehicle Power Off switch on Instrument Control
