SUBJECT : Response of the DD/P to Report of
the Inspector General on the
Eastern Europe Division
1. There is attached a recapitulation of the replies of the
Deputy Director (Plans) to recommendations contained in my
recent report of survey of Eastern Europe Division, together
with my further comments. A. tally of contested recommendations
now reads as follows:
DD/P non-concurs, and this position is
acceptable to the IG:
5, 12, 36, 41, 46
DD/P? concurs with modification or non-concurs,
and the IG rer~ues,ts further on 'd n h?~
13, 18, 25b, 26a, 30, 31, 39b, 40, 55
DD/P position is tentative pending field comment:
2b, 2c, 2d, 4, 6, 8, 32*, 33a, 33b, 33c, 34
* I have recommended that No. 32 be finally
resolved in conjunction with Nos. 33 and 34,
2. The DD/P reported approval of "16 items with modifi-
cations." I count 15 as the correct tally. The DD/P's position
