William Darden called to advise that Senator Russell had asked him to be in touch with the Agency. The Senator wished information on the situation in I nd the Agency program there. I indicated we would work on this and be in touch, 25X1 4. Glenn Smith, Senate Preparedness Investigating Subcommittee, visited the Agency in preparation for his trip to Vietnam accompanying Senator Henry M. Jackson. He was briefed on the Agency's programs there by Peer deSilva. Subsequently, he was brought up to date 25X1 in the nuclear field by I of OSI, 25X1 25X1 25X1 5. Talked with Robert Michaels, House Appropriations Committee staff, who said he had talked to the Chairman about briefing of the CODEL in Saigon. The Chairman would like it to be made known that the briefing is being done at the request of the Chairman. An appropriate cable has been sent on this. 25X1 6. Talked to Mr. Orville Watkins, Administra- tive Assistant to Resident Commissioner Polanco-Abreu, concerning 25X1 current trip to Puerto Rico. Mr. Watkins advised that Commissioner Polanco is in the trust territory of the Pacific and will not 25X1 be returning until mid-December, F_ I has been notified 25X1 and will advisel that his planned courtesy call will not be possible on this trip. 25X1 7. Discussed briefly with Mr. Charles Freburg, Executive Secretary to Representative Chester L. Mize (R. , Kans. ), the fact of my meeting during the week with Mrs. Marie Hershey, Administra- tive Assistant to Representative Harold R. Collier (R. , Ill. ), concerning 25X1 I lof Berwyn, Illinois.
