1. Met with Mr. David Glick, Chief
Counsel, House Foreign Operations and Government Information Sub-
committee, to reaffirm conversations of Friday with the Legislative
Office, State Department; was advised that that office is overdue on a.
promise to call him today. Mr. Glick. will advise when he hears from
the Department. (See Journal item of 1 October.) No further action on
the part of the Agency regarding this matter is required at this time.
Z. Delivered to the staff chiefs of our
House and Senate Subcommittees, copies of the State Department publication
entitled "USSR Falters in Economic Growth Race with the U. S. " I gave
these staff members the background on the production of this paper indicating
that Gardner Ackley was making a speech in California today in which he
was using parts of the study.
