NOTICE TO ORDERING OFFICES
SUBJECT: FSC GROUP 58, PART V, SECTION A - COMMUNICATION
EQUIPMENT, ELECTRONIC DATA PROCESSING TAPE
PERIOD: September 1, 1967 through August 31, 1968
Under date of July 13, 1967, a Notice to Ordering Offices was issued
informing that a new Schedule covering 1/2" EDP Tapes, 800 BPI
would be issued on a multiple award basis including only suppliers
whose tapes had been qualified under Interim Federal Specification
W-T-0051a, as amended. This Schedule was issued effective
September 1, 1967. Contracts in this Schedule cont'ined a 60 day
termination clause and Schedule contractors were subsequently notified,
of our intent to terminate their contracts effective February 29, 1968,.
A new solicitation was issued on a competitive basis on November 21,
1967 for the contract period March 1, 1968 through February 28, 1969.
Bids were opened on December 29 and contracts to be awarded as a
result of this competitive solicitation are substantially lower than those
currently in effect. Accordingly, requirements covered by existing
Federal Supply Schedule Contracts should be held to a minimum and
placed on an emergency basis only, pending availability of the Federal
Supply Schedule for the new contract period March 1, 1968 through
February 28, 1969.
This new Schedule will have a maximum order limitation'of $50, 000
and will be the primary source of supply for all executive agencies.
