MEMORANDUM FOR:
I have the following items for follow up in connection with
today's hearings before the Defense Subcommittee of House
Appropriations:
In the Soviet economy portion, I lasked for
the ratio of grants to loans in foreign aid.
said he did not have exact figures but thought it would be
low, perhaps ten per cent or maybe even five per cent.
I believel oul.d appreciate whatever we can
give him on this.
wanted figures on the comparative aid,
economic and military, given by the U. S. S. R. and the
U. S. to Indonesia, United Arab Republic, and Afghanistan.

wanted to know how many Cubans were
still working on the Guantanamo base.
In connection with Thailand, wanted to
know what per tentage of the Thai population was in the
troublesome northeast area. hought possibly
20 per cent but I think we will want to v caw up on this.
