NSA review completWE proved For Release 2007/02/07 : CIA-RDP68-00069A000200030045-5 Approved Fo , ase 2007/02/07: CIA-RDP68-000& 0200030045-5 Draft of Fourth Annual Report Members of the Procurement Subcommittee are to report by Friday, 25 January 1957 their approval of the draft of the Annula Report and/or any changes proposed. It was suggested by the ACSI representative that the Procurement Subcommittee meet once every month. This was approved and adopted. Copies of Section 943, Chapter 900, supplement to Volume 4 of the Foreign Service Manual will be obtained end made available to members of the Subcommittee. 3. U.S. Customs andDomestic Bookdealers The NSA representative detailed a problem facing U.S. bookdealers who import publications issued in Soviet Orbit areas. The U.S. Customs office detains such mail, pending a screening to determine whether it contains prow derogatory to the U.S. Many such bookdealers report that because of this situation, they are unable to maintain a current stock of materials or service specific orders on time. NSA utilizes such book- dealers and requested any method whereby its orders and book selections might circumvent such detention and subsequent screening. Apart from using postal drops cleared with Customs, it was suggested by the Chairman that the matter be brought to the attention of the Customs authorities in New York. 4: Next Meeting The next meeting of the Procurement Subcommittee will be held on Tuesday, 19 February 1957, at 1030 hours in the Conference Room, 350 26th Street, N.W.
