MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD
SUBJECT: Trip Report 3 - 10 D- ember 1968,

1. Wednesday, 4 December. A formal briefing was
presented at Detachment "G" to introduce the 25X1A
Project and to initiate Detachment involvement in this
project. The following IW-3 cleared personnel were in
attendance:

a. The NRO requirement.
b. The concept developed to satisfy that ---,,4
c. The Quick Application/Evaluation Program, Phase I,
and the follow on, refined program, Phase II.

Range, Pt. Mugu NAS, California to discuss requirement/
procedures for use of the range and its facilities during
the flight test and training phases. Other attendees at

a. Range Scheduling: Top priority will be afforded
this project. Procedures for scheduling 25X1A
flights were established.
b. Range Facilities: All available to support
.project and include:
(1) Tracking and surveillance radars.
(2) Optical tracking.
(3)- Post flight data for critique and analysis.
(4) Control Center with complete communications
and real time tracking information.
(5) Air Sea Rescue
c. Range Requirements: Defined and will be
incorporated into Detachment "G" and Headquarters
planning.
d. Clearances: FAA and PMR procedures were discussed
and a few minor changes to normal operations appear
necessary. .
e. Security Considerations: All referred to

Discussions included the forthcoming LAC flight test of the
configuration and the operational deployment and employment
.of the system.
8. Monday,. 9 December. Meeting with LAC engineers at
the "Skunk Works". In addition to the undersigned the
following personnel were in attendance:
9. Subjects discussed were:
a. Details of the aircraft modification.
b. Predicted flight characteristics.
c. The LAC flight test program.
d. Development of a flight handbook supplement,
and?checklists.
e. Performance data validation.
10. 'A detailed flight test plan is currently being
developed and will.be finalized in the near future. The
final format of the pilot training syllabus will be determined
from test results and the remaining inventory of
vehicles.
11. Monday evening, 9 December. Attended an informal
meeting with Beech Aircraft Co. representatives. Attendees
in addition to the undersigned were:

13, will be the Beech technical representa-
tive for this project and he has agreed to assist in the
pilot training program. He will present slide briefings,
conduct a hangar classroom and provide technical manuals to
be used as training aids.
14. Tuesday, 10 December. Attended.D/M/OSA sponsored
interface meeting at LAC,. Burbank. Details of the meeting
should be presented in other tr.ip reports
