Locations and Purpose of Visits: The undersigned visited the life support section at Detachment G'on 20 November 1968 to conduct rtial pressure suit chamber flight for The Physiological Support Division (PSD), strategic Reconnaissance Wing, Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona, was visited'on 21-22 November 1968 to exchange infor- mation on the operation, maintenance and experience'gained to date with U-2R life.support equipment. 2. Individuals Contacted at Davis Monthan AFB: Col. Weller and Lt. Col. Howard DCO and Major Mahaffey, Capt. McWilliams, and Mr. Tom Smith (PSD) were primary indi- viduals contacted and with whom discussions were held. 3. Results: The chamber flight for was 25X1A cancelled due to the subject coming down with'gastrointestinal flu symptoms. This chamber flight has been rescheduled for the week of 16 December at Castle AFB, Calif., under the supervision of Det. G flight surgeon. The visit and exchange of information with members of SAC at Davis-Monthan was most beneficial. Specific details and general background information provided by the undersigned regarding pressure suit, seat kit, escape system design and operation was greatly appreciated by their PSD personnel. Likewise, many items and ideas regarding improved S-1010 PPA utilization and maintenance were gained from their PSD personnel which have been passed on to Det. G life support personnel. Major Mahaffey, OIC of their PSD, was the only PSD member holding an Idealist clearance. Since this individual is about to retire, the undersigned will request OSA Security Staff to approve clearances and briefings for the new PSD Officers, Major Brown and Capt. McWilliams, because the exchange of` information is essential and most effectively'accomplished when unhindered by lack of project clearance.
