R. 1535 IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES JANUARY 5,1965 Mr. DANIEJ introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Com- mittee on Post Office and Civil Service A BILL To amend the Classification Act of 1949 to authorize the estab- lishment of hazardous duty pay in certain cases. 1 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa- 2 tines of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 3 That title VIII of the Classification Act of 1949, as 4 amended (5 U.S.C. 1131-1133), is amended by adding 5 at the end thereof the following: 6 "SEC. 804. The Commission shall establish a schedule 7 or schedules of pay differentials for irregular or intermittent 8 duty involving unusual physical hardship or hazard. Such pay differential- 3 " (1) shall not be applicable with respect to any 4 officer or employee in any position the classification of 5 which takes into account the degree of physical hard- 6 shi or Lei IZ rd 1 1 ' h V ( a lnvo vec. in t e performance of the duties thereof ; " (2) shall not exceed an amount equal to 25 per centum of the rate of basic compensation applicable 10 with respect to such officer or employee; and 11 " (3) shall be paid under regulations which shall be 12 prescribed by the Commission." 13 Sm. 2. The amendment made by the first section of 14 this Act shall become effective on the first day of the first 15 pay period which begins more than one hundred and eighty 16 days after the date of enactment of this Act.
