6. h Picked up from Mr. Woodruff, Senate
Appropriations Committee staff, the signed letter to the Director of the
Bureau of the Budget approving supplemental appropriations for the Agency.
8. Delivered to Mr. Robert Michaels,
House Appropriations Committee staff, a copy of the newspaper article
reporting President Johnson's comments in Tennessee which Mr. Michaels
had previously requested.
9. Met with Mrs. Peggy Rapking, in the office
of Senator Howard Baker, an confirmed with her the arrangements for
Senator Baker's visit to the Agency tomorrow morning. Mrs. Rapking noted
that the Senator is very much looking forward to meeting with the Director.
10. Attempted to meet with Crawford Cook,
in the office of Senator Ernest F. Hollings, to detail the arrangements
for the Senator's visit to the Agency on Friday. Mr. Cook was not avail-
able until tomorrow.

RE-REVIEW
11. At his request, met with George Norris, House
Armed Services Committee staff. In brief, Mr. Norris was interested in
the status of the letter response to Mr. Blandford, of the Committee staff,
concerning the comparative strengths of the Soviet and U.S. nuclear forces
together with the questions for use by Mr. Norris in Committee in develop-
ment of this same question. I advised Mr. Norris that both are under active
consideration and I will keep him up to date on any changes in status.
12. Dana Swift, in the office of Senator
Charles Pprcv. called and requested any unclassified information we could
provide on is pulling some material
together for the Senator's office.
13. Handcarried to Homer Krout, in the office
of Representative Joel Broyhill, our response to the Congressman's letter
concerning an Agency personnel problem, explaining the way in which we
handled the situation. Mr. Krout agreed with our approach and thanked us
for providing a written response.
