7, Met with Miss Oneta Stockstill,
use Armed Services Commit ee staff, and later talked to Mr.
Char es Andrews of t e Capitol Reporting Firm and arranged for
security control of the tapes, transcripts and transcriptions of the
Director's appearance before House Armed Services Committee,
Wednesday, 1 March. In the light of previous contact with this
reporting firm, no problems are anticipated.
$ Met with Senator Karl Mundt who
suggested Monday morning for possible visit to the Agency and
breakfast with the DCI. While there, the Senator also raised 'a
question concerning possible public statements to be made by him
with regard to "the Soviet ground rockets" that the Director had
mentioned in the last briefing. He noted that these rockets and their
utilization by the North Vietnamese is being covered in some detail
in today's press. I advised the Senator that I will check on this
matter and be back in touch with him in the morning.
9.1 Met with Mr. J.R. Blandford, House
Armed Services Committee staff, who confirmed that due to the
pending debate on the House floor tomorrow afternoon of the Powell
matter, that there is no possibility of continuing the Director's
briefing into an afternoon session.
