1. I Met with Representative
William Bates, Ranking MinorityMember, House Armed Services
Committee, who advised that he was pleased to have gotten
Representative Charles Halleck on the Committee. He feels
Halleck is a very good man.
2. Talked to Mr. Wentworth,
Assistant to Congressman Robert Price, who advised that his original
call had been for the purpose of acquiring an Agency seal. However,
he had since learned that Representative Bob Wilson had been a
member of our Committee at the time his seal was acquired. In
consequence, he was now withdrawing the request. I thanked Mr.
Wentworth very much for his consideration.
met with Senator Thurmond
in the Senate Appropriations Committee rooms for some 15 minutes and
with Representative Ashmore for approximately an hour.
