Wednesday - 4 January 1967
1.1 1 Attempted to reach Congressman
Chet Holifield (D. , Calif.), and his office promised to be in touch
with me tomorrow for an appointment.
Z. I Talked to Mr. James A. McKenna,
in the office of Senator Pastore. The Senator is not returning until
next Monday or Tuesday. I will recontact them on Monday.
3. Talked to John Conway, staff of the
Joint Committee on Atomic Energy, reviewing with him his thoughts
as to what the Committee wanted at the briefing on 11 January, which
is scheduled for 10 a. m.
4. I I Talked with Phil Kelleher, House
Armed Services Committee, asking him to alert the Chairman that
the Director will be appearing before JCAE on 11 January and that
undoubtedly Soviet ABM developments will be discussed.
5. I lTalked briefly with Chairman Rivers,
who sent his regards to the Director for the new year.
6. Talked with Glenn Smith, Senate
Subcommittee on Preparedness Investigation, who will be seeing
Senator Stennis on Friday and asked him to bring to the Senator's
attention the fact that the Director will be briefing JCAE on 11 January,
at which time Soviet ABM developments will undoubtedly be discussed.
7. Mr. Samuel R. Davenport, in the
Office of Coordinator of Information, House of Representatives, called
asking for some information concerning the whereabouts of
