Approved For Release 2004/05/05 : CIA-RDP69B00369R000100230032-5 JOURNAL OFFICE OF LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL Tuesday - 14 November 1967 1.1 Was informed byl CA Staff, that General Rodney Smith on 9 November was successful in speaking to Representatives Arch Moore (R., W.Va. ), Michael Feighan (D., Ohio), and Peter Rodino (D., N.J. ) concerning the Rodino bill. Each of the three was very cordial to Smith and believed that the bill can be passed in the Senate this session. Moore said he would speak to Senator Dirksen concerning the bill; Feighan said he would speak to Senator Eastland; and Rodino, who will also speak to Eastland, in addition is sending personal letters to each member of the Senate Subcommittee. 25X1 25X1 3. I I Talked with Representative Glenard Lipscomb showing him the Periscope item headed "Staff Problems at CIA. " He stated this was the item he had seen and could not identify when he had inquired about it the other day. I briefed him on the actual figures on the CT group, and the years involved as well as overall attrition rates based on a paper supplied by Mr. Lipscomb was appreciative of my following up on this. 4. Talked with Russ Blandford, House Armed Services Committee staff, briefing him in a little more detail on the Soviet helicopter carriers,based on a paper supplied by Also reviewed with him specifications on the Kresta-class cruiser with attached photographs. He would like to have this information for his files. It was agreed I would return them after I had shown them to Mr. Bates. Also mentioned to Mr. Blandford that we had seen no Soviet press statements on Secretary Rusk's attendance at the Soviet anniversary party.
