4. James Gehrig, Senate Aeronautical
and Spaces Sciences Committee staff, called and asked if we had any
information on a Chinese nuclear rocket or a sounding rocket which
were mentioned by Representative James Fulton on the floor of the House
on 23 October. After checking with FMSAC, I advised Mr. Gehrig that
while we could think of related matters, we had no information regarding
the types of rockets discussed by Mr. Fulton. Mr. Gehrig thanked me
for checking on this.
5. Jay Sourwine, Senate Internal Security
Subcommittee staff, called to say that the State Department had advised
him of a publication produced by the Brookings Institute for us entitled
"Where's What?" He said this was a reference document for information
and record location. He said he was aware that it was classified Confidential
but if a copy could be made available to them they would, of course, respect
the security classification. I told Sourwine I would look into this and be
back in touch with him.
6. Advised George Murphy, Joint Committee
on Atomic Energy staff, that the Director would brief the Subcommittee
on Military Applications on Wednesday, 8 November at 2: 00 P. M. as they
had requested.
