with Representative Ogden Reid R. , N. Y. in response to is request o
yesterday for an updating of information on Vietnam. Questions raised by
Representative Reid related also to the current debate on Poland and the
Middle East. Representative Reid expressed his appreciation for the briefing
provided
2. Met with Mr. Robert McNeil, Administrative
Assistant, and Mr. Edward Maeder, Legislative Assistant to Senator William
E. Spong (D., Va.), and reviewed S. 1035 with them. Mr. Maeder will
schedule a meeting for me with the Senator for Friday, to discuss the bill
directly with the Senator.
3, ccompanied two members of the Office of
Security on a security check of room 2337, the House Armed Services Special
Investigations Subcommittee hearing room.
In response to her call later in the day, met with with Mrs. Phillis
Seymour and reviewed the arrangements for a security check of the Special
Investigations hearing room for Thursday morning. Mrs. Seymour advised
that a member of the staff would be on board at 8:00 a. m. to open the office.
Thursday's meeting of the Subcommittee will begin at 9:00 a. m.
5. Delivered to Garner J. Cline, Counsel,
House Subcommittee on Immigration and Naturalization, the material which he
had requested for use in hearings on the Rodino bill on 24 August.
