JOURNAL
OFFICE OF LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL
Wednesday - 28 December 1966
1. (Unclassied - LLM) Delivered a letter respondin to
Congressman Robert Kastenmeier (D., Wis.) on behalf of II
who is now. in Viet Nam and who is interested in
Agency employment. Mr. Kaz Oshiki, Administrative Assistant
to the Congressman, said he fully appreciated our position of not
wanting to have Agency application forms submitted to Viet Nam
at this time. I also enjoyed a cup of coffee with the Congressman
and had a pleasant and casual conversation with him.
2. (Unclassified - GLC) Richard Cook, on the staff of the House..._
Banking and Currency Committee, called concerning the interest of
Representative Ashley and his Subcommittee on International Trade in
printing in one of its reports ORR's study "USSR: About to Enter the
Automotive Age?" I told Mr. Cook I anticipated no problems in their
printing this with attribution to the Agency. Mr. Cook did mention the
fact that the Subcommittee would like to have its report reflect the recent
agreement between the Soviet Union and Renault. We discussed the
possibility of our providing them with a blind paragraph on this which
might be used as part of the staff's research efforts. ORR is preparing
such a paper and we will be in touch with Cook again within the next few
days.
