JOURNAL
OFFICE OF LEGISLATIVE C OUNSE L
Thursday - 25 May 1967
1, alked with Representative Alexander
Pirnie showing him an editorial by Mr. James Loeb, of the Adirondack Daily
Enterprise, asking if he would be into ested in putting this in the Congressional
Record. He looked it over and said he would be most happy to do so. Later
in the day, he called me and read r-- introduction which he was to use
stating, however, he was going to ask Representative Robert McEwen, in
whose district the newspaper is located, to put it in.
2. I Talked with Senator Milton Young giving him a
status report on the special project. He was most grateful for being brought
up to date. He also mentioned in passing that the Rusk Committee was
holding a meeting this coming Saturday, 27 May. However, Senator Russell
had told him that he was not planning to attend and Senator Young said he
doubted that he would be attending either.
3. alked with Representative Charles Gubser
asking whether he would be at all interested in receiving some material from
his constituents for turnover to the Agency. Mr. Gubser said he thought
this should be left to the pros and he would rather not be involved.
4. r. Michaels, House Appropriations
Committee staff, called to advise that the transcripts of Poats testimony
before Passman's Subcommittee are available for our review. As to an
item which involves the Agency, I told Mr. Michaels we would be in in the
next day or two to look this over.
5. Briefed Mr. William Woodruff, Senate Appropriations
Committee staff, and Mr. Russ Blandford, House Armed Services Committee
staff, on the current status of a special project. They were most grateful.
