OFFICE OF LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL
Wednesday - 25 October 1967

2. Talked to J. Garner Cline, Counsel,
House I i.gxatiQnand Naturalization Committee, about the Rodino bill.
He said it went through the full Committee with no problems and he expects
to have the report out within a few days. He anticipates that it will be on
the Consent Calendar of 6 November. I inquired as to whether we should
say anything to the official Republican objectors, Representatives Durward
Hall and H. R. Gross. Cline suggested that we get in touc-_ with Representa-
tive Gerald Ford first and seek his guidance. He said there would be no
problem from the Democratic side of the House and we would have to rely
on Ford's judgment with regard to the Republicans.
I also talked to Cline about his forthcoming trip with Congressmen
Feighan, Rodino, and Moore. Cline said he was certain they would not wish
any contact with out people in Europe or Africa, but that they may be going
to Latin America in which case he felt certain Rodino at least would like an
area brief in I obtained their itinerary and shall prepare an
.appropriate cable.
