Approved For Release 2006/10/05: CIA-RDP69B00369R000200070006-0 JOURNAL OFFICE OF LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL Thursday - 9 November 1967 Delivered to Paul Demos, Administrative 25X1 25X1 Assistant to Senator Joseph Montoya (D., N. Mex.), biographical data on I Iwho recently died of a heart attack. Senator Montoya had requested the material as he plans to insert a eulogy of in the CONGRESSIONAL RECORD. 2. Spoke to Drury Blair, Senate Subcommittee on Immration and Naturalization, concerning the Rodino bill. Blair said that Senator Eastland has been out of Washington all week and he had thus been unable to speak to the Senator concerning the bill. There will be a Subcommittee meeting on Tuesday, November 14, and Blair will endeavor to place the bill on the agenda. He considers the bill noncontroversial and foresees no problems other than possibly Senator Thurmond, who is new to the Committee and might ask questions. Blair thought it might be wise for someone to speak to Senator Thurmond. I indicated that we ourselves would not do this, but possibly a representative from one of the Radios would. 3. Talked with Robert Michaels, House Appropriations Committee staff, inquiring if he had a chance to work out with the Chairman a date when the Agency would meet with the Agency Sub- committee. Mr. Michaels said he had a brief conversation but nothing was resolved and he would be talking with him later in the day but certainly it would be no earlier than next week. 4. Representative Philip Philbin, prior to today's briefing, specifically inquired what the Senate plans were in connection with hearings and action on H. R. 13705. I indicated we had been pressing them but had gotten no firm answer but I would look into it again and advise. Mr. Philbin indicated he would like to know since if they are not planning to act this year he would not wish to go forward at this time. ee memorandum for the Record. 5.
