the Budget, concerning S. 1035 and informed him that we had -directed-our--
report on this bill to Mr. James Clark, of the International Division, with
the request that he bring this directly to the attention of Mr. Schultze. I
noted that I was calling Mr. Martin to alert him to the fact that we have
:filed this report in the event it has not yet come to his attention. Mr. Martin
said he had not yet received it and thanked me for my call.
the Rodino bill from Mary Sourwine, House Subcommittee on Immigration
and Naturalization staff.
on Immijration and Naturalization staff, concerning the Rodino bill. It was
Blair's belief that this late in the session it will be necessary to talk to
Senator Eastland if the bill is to pass the Senate this session. He stated that
there may be some reluctance to put the bill on the Senate calendar unless
Senator Eastland can secure unanimous consent to its passage because of the
likelihood that other immigration bills would be tacked on by amendment. It
was agreed that we would await House action on the bill and then further con-
sider what action should be taken.
4. Because of the Friday session of the House,
Representative Wiley Mayne (R., Iowa) canceled his scheduled luncheon visit
to the Agency. Because of the likelihood of Friday sessions during the remain-
der of this session, Mr. Mayne felt that we should put his visit over until next
year. I shall continue to be in touch with Mr. Mayne.
