10. Advised William McManus, of General
Elect:ric,that we would have an Agency speaker or speakers in attendance
at GE's Seminar on Federal Government at their luncheon meeting on
22 March. Mr. McManus was pleased to receive this information and
said he would send me a letter outlining the details of the seminar and
including a program of last year's sessions.
11. At the request of Mrs. Bledsoe, in the
office of Senator Stuart Symington, I arranged an appointment for
an applicant who was referred to the Agency by Senator Symington
and who is in town for the day, with

Young. Siena e Judiciary Committee staff, that while we were aware of the
I Icase, we had no information other than that already known to
him. I also pointed out that the Navy was the proper channel for communication
of any information regarding this Naval officer. Mr. Young thanked me for
checking on the case.
13. Advised FE Division,
that we were unable to locate through any congressional offices information
on I suggested that FE might want to check with DCS.
14. Talked with Sherman R. Abrahamson,
Deputy Director, Office of Export Control, Department of Commerce,
regarding his coordination of the replies of DOD, and State as well as Commerce
to Representative James Harvey's letter on the proposed FIAT loan by the
Export-Import Bank. Abrahamson said that two of the three parts of the
reply had been completed and he anticipated it would be finished tomorrow.
He said he had cleared the State Department's proposed reply and would
send us a copy of the Commerce response when it had been finalized.
STAT 15. Talked with James Colbert, Economic
Affairs Officer, Office of Soviet Union Affairs, Department of State, concerning
the Department's proposed reply to Representative James Harvey's inquiry.
Colbert said that although they had coordinated their proposed reply with
Commerce, they were having some difficulty within the Department on
certain parts of this response. He will make a copy available to us when it is
in final form. He mentioned that Representative Ashley's Subcommittee, the
Joint Economic Committee and the House Ways and Means Committee were all
expected to be holding hearings which in one way or another would touch on
this subject.
