ADDENDUM TO JOURNAL
Office of Legislative Counsel
Wednesday - 16 August 1967
Met with Miss Elsie E. Thornton,
Executive Secretary, House Post Office and Civil Service Committee.
Miss Thornton advised that Mr. Charles E. Johnson, Staff Director, was
fully committed to meetings with the Committee, the Chairman, and
others on the Postal Rate Bill through sometime on Friday, but that she
would attempt to arrange a time for me to meet with him during Thursday
afternoon, 17 August. She also advised that H. R. 10647 and H. R. 10966,
"To protect civilian employees of the executive branch of the United States
Government in the enjoyment of their constitutional rights and to prevent
unwarranted governmental invasions of their privacy" have not been
assigned to Subcommittee, and the bills are similar to S. 1035, the Ervin
Bill, which was approved by the, Senate Judiciary Committee this week.
