JOURNAL
OFFICE OF LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL
Wednesday - 1 November 1967
1. Met with Mrs. Mary Swann,
Administrative Assistant to Representative F. Edward Hebert (D., La.),
who advised that Mr. Hebert had asked that I come by to see him
tomorrow noon. He was tied up continuously from arrival with floor
action and meetings during the d4y.
2. I called Miss McClintock,
Secretary to Representative James Fulton (R., Pa.). Miss McClintock
advised that she would talk with Mr. Fulton and be back in touch with
a proposed time for meeting with Mr. Fulton.
3. Sat in on the briefing given by
which had been requested by Representative Ogden Reid (R., N. Y.). The
briefing was very well received by the group and a number of questions
were asked. The head of the group, Helena Real Brady,. Chairman,
Department of History and Social Science, expressed her appreciation
for this courtesy.
4. Met with Mr. Charles Johnson, Staff
Director, House Post Office and Civil Service. The Committee is in the
process of moving back to their old quarters, room 207, Cannon Building,
so they find themselves somewhat in the state of confusion. Mr. Johnson
noted that in conversations with Mr. Bun Bray and Representative
Henderson, it was indicated that their feeling is that hearings will be
required next year on S. 1035. I plan to meet with Mr. Bray tomorrow
after Committee meeting.
