Thank you very much for your thoughtful note
of congratulations on my recent nomination for
promotion.
It was a very pleasant surprise--with enough
thrust to lift me out of a low earth orbit into a
much higher one, and I have only recently begun to
approach the atmosphere again (at least, that's my
excuse for being so tardy in acknowledging your
congratulations).
