5. Met with Miss Dorothy Fosdick, Senate
Subcommittee on National Security and International Operations staff, and
received from her two copies o the Senator's speech to be given before the
North Atlantic Assembl Defense Subcommittee. The copies were delivered
for a French and German translation,
6. Met with Mr. Alb ._ t Westphal, Staff
Consultant, House Foreign Affairs Committee, and received from him the
draft agenda and tentative listing of Committee personnel who will be traveling
on the Far East study mission leaving Washington on or about 11 November..
7. Talked with Miss Milrae Jensen, Staff
Assistant, Senate Foreign Relations Committee staff, and received from
her the current listing of Senate personnel who will be traveling as delegates
to the North Atlantic Assembly meeting in Brussels. Later in the day I also
talked -;_h Philip Billings, Staff Consultant, House Foreign Affairs
Committee, and received from him the list of delegates from the House of
Representatives to the North Atlantic Assembly.
8. In response to his query, advised Mr.
Stephen Jones, in the office of Representative Paul Findley, that no
additional information concerning a possible address for is
available. Mr. Jones thanked me for our efforts and indicated he will
contact the Department of State since Mr. Findley will be traveling in part
under the Department's auspices on his trip to Europe next week.
9. Met with and provided him with
a copy of a list of our European Station Chiefs which had been provided
previously to Senator Stennis. I also reviewed with the instructions
to the people in the field which is that they are to take initiative in contacting
and are to make themselves available to Senator Stennis for such
briefings as he may request which our people might think would be of interest
to him.
