At his request,I spoke with Mr. Donald
canciebury, GAO Regional Manager, about the case. Mr. Scantlebary
was unfamiliar with the case but acknowledged that his office would be
preparing a report on the bill which had been requested by the Judiciary
Committee. Mr. Judd Thompson, in Scantlebury's office, will be
working on the case and will call me when he has reviewed the facts.
Representative Melvin R. Laird, called to inquire Aif they Agency has
in its employ al _1 who is engaged to the daughter of a
constituent and who claims he is employed by the CIA to investigate
the black ma ket. After checking with Personnel I informed Miss
Obrokta that we had had a military detailee by this name for three
in December 1964 but did not currently have anyone on our rolls
with this name. I also pointed out that 0 claim is obvious--,
false on the face of it since the Agency has no jurisdiction in the tinih,.-a
States over this subject matter. The Office of Security has been
