Approved-For Release 2004/03/15: CIA-RDP70B00338R000200110073-4 SECRET JOURNAL OFFICE OF LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL Thursday - 9 May 1968 1. ( - JGO) Met with Mr. Charles Johnson, Chief Counsel and Staff Director of the House Post Office and Civil Service Committee with regard to S. 1035, the'Ervin bill. Mr. Johnson noted that it will be scheduled for hearing by Mr. Henderson. The schedule is such that if the decks were cleared on other matters, hearings could be set as early as the last week of the month, but there is more likelihood that they will be scheduled for a later date. With regard to the Federal pay raise, Mr. Johnson noted in essence that present information would indicate that the White House is not going to assent to delaying the pay raise. I also discussed with Mr. Johnson the study being conducted by the Subcommittee on Position Classification. Mr. Joseph Winslow, Consultant to the Subcommittee, is away from the office for the week due to death in the family, and his assistant is absent due to illness. I advised Mr. Johnson that the meeting with Agency representatives will be scheduled upon Mr. Winslow's return. 2? I I Met with Mr. William Woodruff, Assistant Chief Cler Senate Appropriations Committee staff, concerning the McNamara-Tidemand agreement of January 1968.
