11. In response to a query from
Representative James Fulton (R., Pa.), advised Mr. Richard P. Hines,
House Science and Astronautics Committee staff, that the Soviet research
vessel Vityaz made t ree voyages uring 9 , two to the Indian Ocean
and one to the Sea of Japan. Also advised that the Soviets have approximately
35 communication type vessels and that two are off our coast. Mr. Hines
expressed his appreciation for the rapid response and indicated that he
would not attribute the information to us in responding to Mr. Fulton in
Pittsburgh.
