Please pass the following to Admiral Taylor:
"The Military Committee is the senior military authority in
the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It is composed of a Chief
of Staff of each member country except France. Iceland, however,
having no military forces, may be represented by a civilian. "

Further, my inquiry indicates that France does not have an
official representative on the permanent military staff. (Admiral
Ward is the United States representative.) The Military Committee
is comprised of thirteen NATO countries, minus France and Iceland.
However, to be fair and objective I have been advised that
the French do have a liaison officer to the Military Committee. He
Therefore, it is my considered judgement that I should get at
least 3/4th of a martini or better still, a good cup of Navy coffee.
