Donald J. Riegle R. , Mich.) called to let me know that the Congressman
had interviewed and wanted the Agency to know that he has
no way of knowing whether information is of any consequence.
I attempted to pass this in orma ion on to ut was unable to
reach him.

In conversation with George Murphy, on
25X1the staff of the Joint Committee on Atomic Energy, I mentioned the articles
appearing in the 12 December issue of Life Magazine on the Imre and German
suicide cases. Murphy said he had seen the full page ad in the New York
Times on this and was keeping a lookout for it. I gave him an idea as to
the tack taken by deVosjoli in discussing the German cases. Murphy said
this recalled to mind his earlier inquiry to us on deVosjoli's first Life
article and our reluctance to comment on it. I repeated our position that
the Agency did not wish to comment on the validity of deVosjoli's assertions
in his article. I indicated, however, that if he had a specific question of
fact which he wished to put to us, that was a different matter. I told Murphy
we would probably bring someone up in the next few days to discuss some
of the more important of these cases and the relationship, if any, to the
atomic energy field.

In response to his earlier inquiry for the
names of the four women who visited Alma Ata as guests of a Soviet committee,
I advised Jay Sourwine, on the staff of the Senate Subcommittee on Internal
Security, that we had come across the names of 25X1

checking with t e Visa ice. Sourwine thanked me for this information
and said he would contact the Visa people.
