Wednesday - 13 November 1968
Met with Mr. Charles Johnson, Staff
i 1
Director, House Post Office and Civil Service Committee, who advised
that the President's Committee on Executive Compensation will not be
reporting to the President on executive pay levels until some time after
1 December and that the substance of the report will not be available
until the report is submitted.
~harles Kirbow, on the staff of the Senate
Armed Services Committee, called to say that he and Senator James B.
Pearson (R., Kansas) would be leaving Friday night on a trip that would
include Athens, Turkey, Cyprus, Jordan, Tel Aviv, Syria, and the UAR.
Kirbow said he and the Senator would like to have an Agency briefing
before their departure and suggested that it be set for four o'clock on
Friday. Kirbow called later in the day to inform us that it had become
necessary for Senator Pearson to cancel the trip, therefore, the briefing
would not be necessary.
Further contacts were made with Colonel James
I I
Brower, Office of Secretary Defense, Legislative Affairs, and OSP regarding
the DOD responses to Senator Ribicoff and a Connecticut tax assessor on a
tax matter involving an OSP contractor. OSP is providing General Flax
with the necessary information for a DOD response.
