Senator Milton Young called stating he would appreciate a little informal briefing tomorrow on the Middle East situation and a little on the Vietnam situation. A time was set for eleven o'clock in his office. 2. I and Mr. Warner met with Chairman L. Mendel Rivers with Russ Blandford present for the daily 7:15 a. m. briefing on the Middle East situation. Mr. Rivers was most appreciative as he was yesterday for our taking the trouble to do this and said it was most informative. 3. Ind Warner also met with Representative William H. Bates for about half an hour and briefed him on the Middle East situation per his request. Mr. Bates was most appreciative of the briefing. I 4. I Ielivered to Miss Carol Tuchmann, in the office of Representative Ogden Reid, a set of maps relating to Israel, Egypt, Jordan and Syria and outlined for her the proper method of assembly for this series. She was most appreciative and indicated Mr. Reid was awaiting their arrival. Services Committee staff, additional news clippings from which questions may be raised by the Chairman at the next meeting of the Subcommittee.
