9. Talked with Mr. William Darden, Senate
Armed Services Committee staff, regarding the request we had received
from the Preparedness Subcommittee staff for a briefing on the
developments of the situation in echo lov_akia. Darden agreed that
we should proceed to brief the Subcommittee staff as requested. He
also, however, agreed that if it should develop that the Subcommittee
staff is conducting a postmortem on the effectiveness of intelligence
with respect to the Czechossc we should discuss the 'natter
with Senator Stennis and Senator Russell on the grounds treat ~_ s
