Representative Samuel S. Stratton (D. , N. Y. ), called to say that the
Congressman had a very good friend whom he would like to have interviewed
for possible employment by the Agency. I advised Mrs. Leslie of our
currently tight hiring situation but suggested that she have

3. (Unclassified - LLM) Miss Wood, in the office of Representative
Clarence Miller (R. , Ohio), called on behalf of a constituent interested in
employment opportunities with the Agency and we sent her the appropriate
brochures.
4. (Unclassified - GLC) Touched base with Bill Woodruff, Senate
Appropriations Committee staff, regarding our intention to obtain legislation
comparable to the McGee bill. Woodruff said there was no particular need
for clearing any of this with him but added that he was generally interested and
appreciated our keeping him informed on. our progress on this. In response to
my question he saw no reason why we should not include in our current proposal
the provision which would authorize the transfer of funds between our retirement
system and the Civil Service system. He also saw no. reason why we should not
attempt to obtain legislation which would permit the Director to adopt adminis-
tratively provisions of law enacted for the Civil Service system. On all of
this, however, he deferred to our staff contacts with the House and Senate
Armed Services Committees.
