sional recipients of the FBIS White Book, contact was made with the
following offices:
a. Senator Peter H. Dominick (R. , Colo.) continue the book
marking it to the attention of Mr. Charles Kendrick.
b. Senator Allen J. Ellender (D. , La.) continue sending it to
the attention of Miss Marihelen Horneman.
c. Senator Stuart Symington (D. , Mo.) continue the book.
d. Representative Roman C. Pucinski (D. , Ill.) continue the
e. Senator Len B. Jordan (R. , Idaho) discontinue the book.
f. Senator Thomas Dodd (D. , Conn.) continue the book.

10. (Confidential - GLC) of OSI, alerted us 25X1A
to the case of one of his analysts, who is seeking draft 25X1A
deferment. One of colleagues, has been in 25X1A
touch with Senator Jack Miller (R. , Iowa) regarding case. Senator 25X1A
Miller felt he could assist in obtaining a deferment but asked him to
obtain an official request from the Agency asking him to do so. I discussed
this case with Office of Personnel, and it was agreed we
would be in touch with Senator Miller or his staff indicating that the Ag.:
had made every reasonable request it felt warranted in case 25X1A
and did not feel we were in a position to press the matter further.
11. (Secret - GLC) George Murphy, on the staff of the Joint Committee
on Atomic Energy, called and requested such information as the Agency
might have on a Czech national, who was in the
United States some years ago while taking graduate work
The Atomic Energy Commission had no knowledge
of presence in the United States until he had returned to
Czechoslovakia. AEC has notified the Joint Committee.

15. (Secret - JMM) Met with George Murphy, Joint Committee on
Atomic Energy staff, who asked about
V Murphy said that at the 20 February
briefing o the Joint ommi ee a Director should expect questions on Soviet
and ChiCom.nuclear programs and weapons, delivery systems, Soviet ABM
and reasons for the apparent suspension of further construction, Soviet nuclear
submarines, etc.
16. (Unclassified - JMM) The senior duty officer called at 1845 to
say that Senator Jacob K. 'Davits had called earlier for the Director, who
was out of town, and upon return the Director had asked me to call Javits
and find out what his problem was. I called Javits' office but found he had
departed for. New York and would be on the West Coast all of next week.
His secretary said the matter apparently was not urgent.

2. (Secret - GLC) Received a call from Chester Smith, General
Counsel of the House Committee on Un-American Activities. He said
he had spoken with Chairman Ichord about He said
the Chairman was most interested and has asked either Messrs. Appell
or Sanders, on the staff of the HCUA, to meet with to
determine Committee interest in having him appear in executive session.
Chairman Ichord also mentioned to him that if I hould not be of
interest to the HCUA, he might want to have him appear before his House
Armed Services Subcommittee. I did not comment on this latter possibility
but this would obviously be something which we would want to discuss
with the Armed Services staff and probably with Chairman Rivers.
Either Appell or Sanders are to contact us to arrange the meetings with

3. (Confidential - GLC) David Martin, on the staff of Senator
Thomas J. Dodd (D. , Conn. ), called and asked if I would be willing to
meet with a former member of Senator Dodd's staff,
who is now working on his own and has some association with a Chinese
group which is directing radio broadcasts to mainland China. I told
Martin I doubted that I could be of any help to but I would STAT
be willing to talk with him if he called.

9. (Confidential - GLC) George Murphy, on the staff of the
Joint Committee on Atomic Energy, called and discussed possible
dates for the Director's briefing of the Committee. I told him that
the Director was already committed on 18 and 19 February (dates
Murphy had suggested). I indicated that as of this moment either
the dates of 17, 20, or the 21 might be acceptable. Murphy said
he would shoot for the 20th and iet us know if this was a good date
for the Committee.

10. (Confidential - GLC) Mr. George Murphy, on the staff of the
Joint Committee on Atomic Enerev, called to alert us to the fact that they
will be sending the Agency a letter expressing Committee interest in
information concerning the atomic energy program.
12. (Internal Use Only - KEF) Received a call from Mr. Mayne Elder,
Administrative Assistant to Representative Robert Stephens, Jr. (D. , Ga. ),
who requested a personnel interview this Friday for F- I
After making arrangements with I advised Mr. Elder that 25X1A
an appointment had been scheduled for 10:00 a. m. , Friday, 7 February.
13. (Confidential - CEA) Called Larry Conrad, Chief Counsel,
Senate Subcommittee on Constitutional Amendments, for any information
he might be able to provide on the plans of the Senate Subcommittee on
Constitutional Rights with regard to S. 782 (formerly S. 1035). Conrad
said he would check with Paul Woodard of the Constitutional Rights Sub-
committee and be back in touch.
14. (Internal Use Only - CEA) Received a call from the office of
Representative Patrick T. Caffery (D. , La.) that the Congressman is ill
with the flu and will be unable to attend the Agency breakfast. He would
like very much to come to the next breakfast when it is scheduled.
