1. Second-term Congressman James H. Scheuer
(D., N. Y.) on 31 January 1967 introduced H. Con. Res.
116, establishing a Congressional Commission on the
role of Congress in foreign policy and intelligence activities.
He introduced a similar resolution on 9 June 1965. Scheuer
is on the Education and Labor Committee. His district is
in the Bronx.
2. This will be the fifth intelligence activity
resolution introduced in the 90th Congress in the House
(none introduced in the Senate). The other four were
Representative Jeffrey Cohelan's, Representative Clement
Zablocki's, Representative Edna Kelly's, and Representative
Robert Kastenmeier's, all repeats of last Congress.
3. During the 89th Congress, there were/l6 so-
called joint committee or investigative measures introduced
in the House.
