(05/0245 EDT) to advise us that he had just seen the "UPI 013A
pres:~ release regarding a missing SR-71 type aircraft. " He
wanted to know if we "were aware of this info" and asked "does
the Director know?" I advised we were aware of this and that
the Director was bz?iefed by either Mr, Carl Duckett or perhaps
He further inquired if I knew "where it was lost. "
I told him approx 600 mi South of Kadena and 500 mi East of
Manila. I told him that what he was seeing was the press release
made by the Kadena PIO to various news media--now filtering
through or coming from sources (SAFOI) in Washington. I request
main Hqs send all UPI and AP press releases they receive. The
first two came in at 05/08002 (0400 EDT).
