9. Met with Mr. Ralph Preston, House
Appropriations Committee staff, and responded to the questions
raised in the Director's briefing relating to numbers of Agency
employees I also briefed Mr. Preston on Soviet
SA-3 deployment in Egypt.
Rodriguez bill will be introduced today or tomorrow.
10. In conversations with Mrs. Hart,
House Judiciary Committee staff, today, it was indicated that the

6. Hand-carried to Mrs. Helen Boyle, in
the office of Representative eorge Mahon (D. , Texas), a personal letter
from the Director to Chairman Mahon.
7. Met with Mr. Ralph Preston,
House Appropriations ommi ee staff, who advised that Chairman
Mahon left for Lubbock, Texas with George Lincoln, Director,
Office of Emergency Prepardness. There is no indication at present
when the Chairman might be returning. Representative Sikes will be
the Acting Chairman in Representative Mahon's absence.
8. I I Bill Woodruff, Senate Appropriations
Committee stall, visa d arters for a meeting with the Director,
Colonel White and me regarding our upcoming appearance before the
CIA Subcommittee on 19 May. Since this will be the first Subcommittee
meeting presided over by Senator Ellender, it was agreed that the
Director would pay a courtesy call on Ellender prior to the hearing
and clarify for him certain aspects of the intelligence community.
9. I IOn the Director's instructions, I called
Senator Allen en e is and made a date for the Director to
see the Senator at 0915 on Friday, 15 May, in the Senator's office, 245 Old
Senate Office Building.
10. I I Talked to Don Henderson, Senate Foreign
Relations Committee staff, who said that apparently the Carl Marcy problem
has now been quitely resolved and Marcy is back at his desk.
