On 5 March 1969, the Director appeared before the above Sub- committee. The session lasted from 1125 until 1225 hours and, after STATINTL luncheon break, from 1400 to 1505 hours. 2. The Director?s prepared statement and the ensuing questions and answers are contained in the Subcommittee transcript, a copy of which is on file in the Office of Legislative Counsel. Although classified by the Subcommittee as "Top Secret," the transcript contains considerable discussion of Special Intelligence. 3. Subcommittee members present were: Representative Otis G. Pike (D., N. Y.), Chairman Representative Lucien N. Nedzi (D. , Mich. ) Representative Bill Nichols (D. , Ala. ) Representative Jack Brinkley (D., Ga. ) Representative Durward Hall JR., Mo. ) 4. Follow-up action: Supplementary details were requested on the following: a. number of missions reviewed by the 303 Committee over the past ten years; b. actual time spent by the 303 Committee in evaluating the Pueblo mission; c. whether the 303 meeting which considered the Pueblo mission turned down any proposed missions for that month; d. percentage of 303 missions carried out by the military as opposed to other agencies at present as compared with five years ago and ten years ago; e. whether the Agency has ever recommended scratching missions approved by the Joint Chiefs; f. a paper charting the steps involved in the approval of a mission submitted to the 303.
