SUBJECT: State Department Request for Transcript
of Testimony Before Gore Subcommittee
1. If you want Secretary Rogers to see the transcript, recommend
you handle it with him directly very much on an "Eyes Only" basis rather
than via the INIT. channel through which the request was remade.
2. 1 think we are now in good shape with Senator F ulbrilht and
the Foreign Relations Con Attee staff, and they have been most coopera-
tive in the secure handling of transcripts, etc. But these are their
transcripts, not ours, and if they bounce around in ISVR or on low levels
in State 1 am afraid word will get back to Marcy and co apany and we
will be in real trouble. Therefore suggest that Bruce Clarke give a
negative rosponse to Weiss and you take it up with Rogers personally.
