5, Received a call from Mr. Ralph Preston,
House Appropriations Committee staff, who told me that Representative
William E. Minshall (R. , Ohio) is starting plans for a trip to the Far East
during the recess and will want to meet with Agency representatives while
he is in the field. Department of Defense is handling the travel, but
apparently there will be limited contact with Defense people in the field.
Representative Minshall has requested no publicity and that notification
to Agency people in the field be handled in a discreet manner. Mr. Preston
will provide more detail as soon as it is available. I told Mr. Preston that
Mr. Maury plans to be in direct contact with Representative Minshall next
week.
