7. I I- JMM) Jim Knowles, Director of Research, Joint
Economic Committee, called to say that Dr. Michael Boretsky of Commerce
Department was sending over some revisions in his paper which he hoped
would resolve the differences between his and the Agency's estimates regarding
the Soviet economy. Knowles doubted that Boretsky's revisions would solve
the problem, and I asked Dr. Edward Allen, OER, to call Knowles to discusq25X1
the matter in detail.

1. I - GLC) Talked further with James Knowles,
Director of Research, Joint Economic Committee, about the article
written by Dr. Michael Boretsky. See Memoran um for the Record.
2. GLC) In response to her earlier inquiry I
talked with Mrs. Lucy Falcone, on the staff of the Joint Economic
Committee, about the problems involved in trying to deal with a compari-
son of U.S. and Soviet defense budgets. Mrs. Falcone thanked me for
the information I had given her (provided us by OSR). No papers were
given Mrs. Falcone on this.
3. I . GLC) In connection with his request, I
advised J. Sourwine, Chief Counsel, Senate Internal Security Sub-
committee, that we were sending him
