Friday - 7 August 1970
1. I IJMM) Ken Harkins, of the staff of the Celler
House Subcommittee investigating impeachment charges against Justice
Douglas, called to say the Committee was meeting on Tuesday, 11 August,
and would like to have by that time a written communication from the
Agency confirming my oral word to Mr. Harkins of 4 August stating that
we could not provide anything beyond the Director's unclassified letter
of 15 July. I told Mr. Harkins the Director was out of town but I would
consult him upon his return the first of the week and advise.
2. - LLM) Called Alan Johnson, Office of
Management an budget, concerning the status of the clearance of the
;CIARDS legislative proposal. He said OMB is still waiting reports from
Civil Service Commission and Treasury, and in response to my question
felt that OMB's views to the Agency would be forthcoming shortl after
after they have received all departmental reports. Mr. Office
of Personnel, is calling Andrew Ruddock on the status of the Civil Service
Commission's report.
