Representative G. William W:.itehurst (R. , Va. ), called on behalf of a
constituent who, in connection with his desire to fight in Indochina as
a mercenary, wanted to know where he could file his application and the
effect this might have on his citizenship. I referred her to the Depart-
ment of State on the citizenship question and explained that the inquiry
probably had been prompted by a news item which was erroneous as far
as we were concerned. She seemed satisfied but commented that she
knew of some unusual recruiting among the OCS class. now at Quantico.
9. I IFrank Slatinshek, Assistant Chief
Counsel, House Armed Services Committee, asked if one of us could stop
by tomorrow to pick up a report on which the Committee had conflicting
information and I said we would do so.
