Approved For Release 2006/11/13: CIA-RDP72-00337R000500120047-0 SECRET JOURNAL OFFICE OF LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL Tuesday - 7 July 1970 1. Talked with Charles Campbell, on the staff of Sena or Richard Russell (D., Ga. ), and advised him of the decision which the Director had made to grant retirement to under the CIA Retirement and Disability System. Campbell thanked me for advising him of this change and said he would make a note for their file. 2. I Talked further with Mr. Gary Ensminger, in the office of Representative Paul N. McCloskey (R., Calif.), regarding his request for information on troop strength in the Middle East to be used in a staff briefing of the Congressman. When I learned that this was to be an unclassified briefing which was being prepared by a number of McCloskey's staff members, I suggested that they obtain the unclassified material from DOD and State Department. I also made it clear that if Representative McCloskey assified briefing from the Agency on the Middle East that Mr. Maury would be glad to give him such a briefing. All of this seemed quite acceptable to Ensminger. 3. Met with Mr. Arthur Kuhl, Chief Clerk, Senate Foreign Relations Committee, who requested that the transcript of the Director's briefing of 7 July be delivered to the Committee on 8 July for use during the day. The transcript will be returned at the close of business for safekeeping by the Agency. CRC, 4/3/2003 Approved For Release 2006/11/13: CIA-RDP72-003378000500120047-0
