Approved For Release 2006/09/25 : CIA-RDP72-00337R000500120067-8 JOURNAL OFFICE OF LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL Thursday - 23 April 1970 1. Informed Jay Sourwine, Senate Internal Security Subcommittee staf, that after checking I learned that the proceedings of the 19th Pugwash Conference apparently have not been published so far, although there is an indication that the papers presented will be coming out in book form. Mr. Sourwine thanked us for our efforts. 3. Met with Mr. Frank Slatinshek, Assistant Chief Counsel, House Armed Services Committee, who advised that the Military Procurement bill has been scheduled on the floor of the House for the afternoon of 29 April. This will put a limit on the time available for the Director's briefing of the CIA Subcommittee which is scheduled for 10:00 a. m. on the morning of 29 April. I briefed Mr. Slatinshek concerning French strategic missile testing and the first quarter 1970 increase in Soviet industrial production. Alfred Vigderman, State Department GTI, called to say that the Department was concerned about congressional reaction to the recent recommendation of Ambassador Tasca in Athens that full-scale military aid to Greece be resumed. Vigderman said the Department would appreciate any support the Agency could provide in selling Tasca's proposal to the Congress, and suggested I might want to confer with Assistant Secretary Abshire in this respect. I made no commitments, but said I would find out what the Agency's position in the matter was. ~OHN M.
