6. (Unclassified - GLC) Marion Ball, in the Legislative Liaison
Office, USIA,,,,called to say that Representative Paul N. McCloskey's
(R. , Calif.) office had contacted her in an effort to obtain FBIS items
covering Vietnamese news statements regarding an upcoming Tet offensive. 25X1
FBIS is providing the only item on this subject to Mrs. Ball directly.
7. (Confidential - GLC) Hand carried to the office of Senator Henry
M. Jackson (D., Wash.) a letter from to the Senator thanking
him for the courtesies extended to him during
their recent visit to Washington.
8. (Unclassified - GLC) George Murphy, on the staff of the Joint
Committee on Atomic Energy, called about an article in the New York Times
indicating that the Soviets have deliberately distorted some of their recent
maps. Murphy is interested in knowing whether the account given in the
newspaper is accurate and also what we feel the Soviet reasons are.-for
doing this. I told Murphy I would check on this and be back in touch with
him.
